The history of sewers from Lutetia to the present day.

Conceived in 1925 as part of the interwar pacifist movement, the Cité internationale brings together students and researchers from all over the world. A Mecca for architecture in Paris, with 45 houses, some of them by great architects (Le Corbusier, etc.).

Along with the Sacré-Cœur, Montmartre’s most iconic attraction. Famous throughout the world for its painters, caricaturists and terraces, it is the heart of the former district of Montmartre. At number 6, a legendary establishment: Chez la mère Catherine, where the word ‘bistrot’ is said to have originated.

Perched at an altitude of 130 metres (one of the highest points in Paris), the basilica is easily recognisable by its white colour and its Roman-Byzantine style. It is both a political and cultural monument, whose origins date back to the end of the Franco-Prussian War of 1870. It was consecrated in 1919. Its ceiling is adorned with the largest mosaic in France (480 m²). Outside, there is a breathtaking view across Paris.

Built in the second half of the 19th century by Edouard André and his wife Nélie Jacquemart, a couple of avid collectors, this townhouse was opened in 1876. Now a museum, it houses the finest private collection of art in Paris (Rembrandt, Boucher, Botticelli…) and regularly hosts exhibitions of international significance.

The mansion of Édouard André and his wife Nélie Jacquemart, a couple of great collectors. Built at the end of the 19th century, it houses a superb collection of art objects and master paintings.
